It’s been a busy month of July so far for Wapello Fire and Rescue with several medical emergencies and auto accidents. On Independence Day the department responded to a two car accident on the US 61 Iowa River Bridge. Three people were involved but no victims were transported to the hospital.
The next day Wapello Fire and Rescue was called to the intersection of 75th Street and E Avenue near Lake Odessa for another two vehicle accident involving an SUV and a passenger car. Fortunately, of the nine victims involved, only one required transport to the hospital.
On the morning of July 8th the Wapello Fire and Rescue was paged for the third vehicle accident in five days. The department responded to 125th Street near M Avenue for a single vehicle accident. The gravel road had washed out from heavy rain and a the driver of a Ford F-150 was unable to stop before hitting the washout that was approximately twenty feet across and four feet deep. The driver refused transport to the hospital.
During the week Wapello Fire and Rescue also responded to several medical emergencies and a fire alarm at the high school. Due to department policy, the names of the subjects involved are not being released.
